- Description: In this project Spanish, Dutch and Canadian students from five different schools will work on producing tourist guides about the regions where we live. We will introduce ourselves to our partners and also will look at all the projects to then exchange comments and questions.

- Progress: Students are presently working on SMART Notebook templates for Miramichi River Tourism. Next they will be producing PhotoStory videos related to tourism in the Miramichi region. As their final project they will be creating brochures to share with not only visitors to the Miramichi this summer, but also with their WWP partners.

- Description: Last year (2008-2009) Dutch and Spanish pupils worked together to know more about the regions of each other. The learners had to write a own tourist guide of the place where they live. At certain time there was also a Skype meeting between two schools. This school year it is the intention to repeat the project. There will be a collaboration between Spanish, Dutch and also Canadian students. Hopefully we will learn together more about our countries and enjoy the interaction on this wiki or by means of skype or video conference.

- Progress: Students are in the process of producing books related to the visits they have made to Miramichi landmarks and locations. They have introduced themselves to their WWP2 partners by posting podcasts at the WWP2 web site. They have also posted a movie that they produced called, “Celebrate Miramichi”:

Our next step will be to publish and share the books with our WWP2 partners, respond to e-mails they have written, answer questions for the Canadian Quiz that has been posted and examine the information posted by our Dutch and Spanish partners.
D. Biology Project:

- Teachers: Mike Donovan & Maggie Sheppard(Croft)
- Progress: Croft has begun publishing pictures of birds at its bird feeders in its forest classroom. Students will be travelling to Kouchibouquac National Park in May to examine the forest habitats of creatures that live there. As well, they will be visiting a marsh that is sponsored by Ducks Unlimited. We will document their day by means of videos, pictures, and articles that they write. We would be very interested in continuing this project next year now that we have identified a teacher who is very interested in doing it.
- Description: This is where students from Canada, Finland, and the Netherlands will being answering the following questions, as they relate to each of their communities, in their search to find out if the world is listening to, and valuing the opinions of, our youth.
- Teacher(s): Tyson Theriault (JMH)
- Progress: Students have been broken into three groups. These groups have created questions for which they are seeking answers. Their questions will be posted on the “Voice of Youth” PBWorks wiki. Mr. Hayward will be helping to facilitate classes with Mr. Theriault throughout the remainder of the year. We feel that the scope of this project may have been too broad. Perhaps if we narrow it down to just one (Transportation) or two (School) categories, students might be able to handle it better. It might also then provide more focus for the teachers. An overriding theme could be: “How are students have a positive impact upon their community?”
- Description: Compare the flowering period of tulips in Canada and the Netherlands. Also, research will be done on plant development and anatomy.
- Teacher(s): Judson Waye (Nelson Rural School)
- Progress: Judson has e-mailed Robin to let him know that he will continue to assist in facilitating this WWP project even though he has been re-assigned to District Office. Judson and Robin will do their project as a pilot on the District 16 LIINC server. Robin has requested that all material that is posted be made available in the public domain so that his students will not have to log in to access the information.
- Description: Students will hold Skype sessions to interview soldiers and critique poems about World War 2.
- Teacher(s): Brandon Savage
- Progress: This project was highly successful. Students at MVHS and St. Canisius wrote poems about World War 2 and then shared their work with each other via video-conferencing. It was very interesting to see the Canadian and Dutch students critique each other’s poems. The insight they offered was enlightening.
- Description: students in Germany: bilingual class age 15; subject: youths in both countries: hopes and fears, youth magazines, outsiders, drugs;
- Teacher(s): Alan Carter (Blackville)
- Progress: Although I did approach Alan earlier in the year about this project I did not get a chance to follow up the way I would like to and, therefore, this project did not get under way. I certainly accept responsibility for not providing the support that was needed. Rather than try to begin the project at this point in time, I will see if the interest is still there at the WWP3 conference. If it is, I will ensure that we begin right away to prepare for its commencement in September, if not before.

- Progress: Although I had originally thought that this project would not work because I just was not able to work it into someone’s curriculum and, as noted by the St. Canisius participants, other partners experienced challenges in finding participants, I now am going to try to revive it by having students participate in World Earth Day on April 22. Pam Underhill is going to have her class make items out of recyclable material. We will take pictures of the items her class makes and post them to a World Earth Day site that I will set up on PB Wiki.
